Austin J. Drukker PhD

I am an Economist in the Bureau of Economics, Antitrust Division, at the US Federal Trade Commission. The views expressed on this website are solely mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Federal Trade Commission or its commissioners. I received my PhD in economics from the University of Arizona in 2023.

My research interests are at the intersection of empirical industrial organization and public finance, with a particular focus on public subsidies and the airline industry. I have discussed my research about Essential Air Service and publicly funded sports stadiums on television and radio, including on Marketplace, NBC4 Washington, Virginia Public Radio, and St. Louis Public Radio, and my research has been cited by numerous national news outlets, including by the Economist, Forbes, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Bloomberg, CBS News, CNBC, CNN, and ESPN. My research has been used to inform public policy about the use of tax-exempt municipal bonds for stadium construction and air service to small communities.
